PitFit Training, the source of fitness and physical development for many Verizon IndyCar Series and Mazda Road to Indy drivers, has announced a new partnership with Spyder Active as the official apparel partner of the training facility. The new enterprise will provide Spyder’s new training line of gear to the PitFit staff, as well as the race car driver clientele.
“This is a new area for Spyder, and we are thrilled to be a part of it,” said PitFit Training owner Jim Leo. “The Spyder Active line is the first line that fits the lifestyle of our drivers, and we are looking forward to sharing this apparel with them.”
Founded in 1978 with a padded ski racing sweater, Spyder is now a leader in ski and performance apparel. Outfitting the elite athletes of the U.S. Ski team since 1989 has allowed Spyder to expand its apparel offering from ski outerwear and race suits to premium lifestyle and performance fitness product. The Spyder brand was founded on elite athletes and their pursuit of speed, which led to the sponsorship of James Hinchcliffe and the partnership with PitFit Training.
Under the urging of Roger Penske, PitFit Training owner Jim Leo began a motorsports specific fitness program for Team Penske in 1994. As the results of the fitness program paid off in crew and driver performance, Leo expanded PitFit over the next 20 years to what it is today: an all-encompassing training facility for race car drivers and professional athletes. Now with several trainers on staff in its Indianapolis facility, PitFit Training has become a source for driver fitness, diet maintenance, reaction training, and much more. With esteemed clientele like four-time IndyCar champion Scott Dixon and 2016 Indianapolis 500 polesitter and Dancing with the Stars runner up James Hinchcliffe, Leo’s facility continues to lead the motorsports industry in fitness and development. In fact, it was his partnership with Hinchliffe that lead to the Spyder Active partnership.

As part of the new partnership, the staff and driver clientele at PitFit Training will receive co-branded training apparel for the gym, home, and race track. The new partnership begins immediately, as PitFit drivers continue to train in the winter months for the 2017 race season, beginning in March.
